Kim Young-Sil
Abstract
Objective : This study attempts to look into the influence that sensory recognition training and palm organization training have on the upper limb function and the activities of daily living (ADL) for traumatic brain injury patients. It also examines the changes that come from that influence.

Methods : The subject of this study is a 24 year old man who has a right hemiplegia due to traumatic brain injury. From September 1st. 2016 to September 30th, 2016, for a total of 19 times (five times a week for 4 weeks) with each time lasting 30 minutes, cognitive therapeutic exercise was applied and sensory recognition training for the hand and fingers and palm organization training was carried out. For the wrist joint and linger joint, joint recognition training, and for the palm, distance recognition, were conducted. For objective evaluation, MFT was used for upper limb function and MBI for the activities of daily living (ADL). For subjective evaluation, CTE profile was used.

Results : In this study, in comparison to the initial evaluation, the subject`s upper limb function was enhanced by 2 points and his activities of daily living by 3 points in the final evaluation. For the cognitive therapeutic exercise profile, results showed a restraint in pathological characteristics, and sensory recognition and linguistic expressions were specified.

Conclusion : For the traumatic brain injury patient, the sensory recognition training of the upper limb and the organization training of the palm influenced the upper limb function and activities of daily living positively, and was effective in improving sensory recognition.
